Make a Christmas Wreath with a ribbon.
This easy Christmas wreath is completed in three easy steps. You\’ll cut the pipe cleaners, and then you\’ll start attaching the ribbon. It will take you three rows – one, two, and three. It\’s so easy!
What Christmas wreath form should we use?
We will use a wire wreath form for this project. It would be best to have something with attachment points to twist the pipe cleaners. I used a 12″ wire wreath form for this project, but there are several sizes.
What type of ribbon can we use for making a wreath?
You need to get a ribbon with wire so it stays \”loopy.\” You can also use mesh ribbon! It should be 2.5″ or broader. Mesh that is 6″ plus works well.
How much ribbon do we need to make the wreath?
We will use 2.5 rolls of ribbon for this wreath. They are 30-foot rolls, making it about 75 feet for a 12″ wreath. This can vary depending on your wreath form size and loop size.

Gather this material
-
Wire ribbon – I used 75 feet
-
12″ wire wreath form
-
Scissors
-
Pipe cleaners, color relate with ribbon, 30 minimum
Prepare Your Material
1.Cut the Pipe Cleaners
We cut the pipe cleaners into thirds for our ribbon width, which was 2.5″ inches. You may need to cut your ribbon into halves if it is wider. For mesh, you\’ll usually cut pipe cleaners in half. Put it into a pile. Take a ribbon spool and unfurl a length. You don\’t need to cut it.
2.Attach the Ribbon
Make a bundle with the ribbon ends. With a pipe cleaner piece, tie it down from front to back on the wreath form. At the back, twist them together. Each tie should have about a hand-sized gap between them. Make sure the ribbon is wrapped around your hand. Once the ribbon is secure, make a loop with another pipe cleaner. Using alternating wires, twist your pipe cleaners.
Make ribbon loops around the wreath form and tie them down with pipe cleaners. You can see that you secure the form\’s second and third wires alternately. Once you\’ve completed one rotation, you can move on to the next. We\’re on our way to delivering your DIY ribbon wreath! One entire spool was used for this first row.
Make the Second Row around the pipe cleaner.
Start a new spool of ribbon or trim your existing one. Using the same method as the first step, twist the end once more, then work around the inside of the wreath form. These wires will be used again. Adding this row increases the wreath\’s fullness and pushes out the first row a bit.
End up with the Third (last row)
On the inside of your ribbon wreath, attach the ribbon alternately between the first and second wires. With your scissors, trim the ribbon when you are done.
Let\’s fluff up the ribbon now. You can bend and adjust the ribbon since it contains wire, so you can fill in areas or fix flattened loops. Remember this critical step before hanging!
This wreath is easy to hang with a picture hook or a Command strip. And it doesn\’t weigh much at all.
